Come, enjoy taking a wool appliqué class with renowned textile & fiber artist Stacy West or one of her skilled team members of Buttermilk Basin!  You will learn the basics of wool appliqué and complete an adorable sewing themed penny mat.  You will learn her tried and true fusing technique, cutting tips, basic stitches & learn about the use of various threads.  We know once you learn the basics, you will fall in love with this medium and get lost in handwork!  Following this class, you may want to join monthly stitch club that meets at the shop.

More about Bernadette:

Bernadette Kent learned to quilt when her children were young and while she waited for each child at various activities. She began to stitch and as she stitched her love of quilting grew. The adventure started when her quilt shop developed in 1999 and continued for 15 years. In 2002, Traditional Pastimes was chosen as a Top 10 shop in North America. After many classes and Block of the Month designs, a book called Rubies, Diamonds and Garnets Too was published by Kansas City Star. The adventure now continues at Wonderfil Threaducation Centre.

As the designer behind the Aster & Anne pre-cut delt kit range, I have combined my love of fashion, sewing, and embellishing to create a collection that inspires creativity. From a young age, I have been passionate about textiles, exploring fabrics, buttons, ribbons, laces & trims-anything that adds a unique touch to handmade pieces. 

Working extensively in the textile industry has allowed me to refine my skills and develop a deeper appreciation for my craftmanship. Designing Aster & Anne felt kits was a natural evolution of my passion, providing makers with a versatile foundation to explore embellishment in their own way. 

Teaching and sharing my love for embellishing is incredibly rewarding. i believe that adding personal details-whether through stitching, applique, or layering fabrics-turns a simple project into something extraordinary. There's nothing more satisfying than creating with your hands, and I love helping others discover the joy of embellishment!

1st Saturday of the Month Unless Noted 

Drop in and enjoy creating a small monthly themed wool project with your pal!  Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, & inspiration provided! 

Price: $15 * Register & Prepay by Wednesday the week of the Make it Take it 

Session Time: 10-11:45 

Kit Includes: Pattern, Wool, Thread and/or Buttons and/or Twine   

What to bring:  Scissors, Pencil & Chenille Needles 

Please note:  You need to come into the shop and make the project, no “pick ups”.  Also, this is not a wool applique class, rather a time to drop in, get guidance and stitch up a fun project with other handwork enthusiasts!  We do offer an Intro to Wool Applique Class.
